Terraforming Mars, The Red Planet is starting to be tamed! Businesses are vying to make Mars habitable by investing enormous sums of money and employing cutting-edge technology to increase the planet's temperature, produce breathable air, and create oceans of water.

In Terraforming Mars, you are in charge of a particular type of corporation. Put your cities and green spaces on the map, play project cards, increase production, and compete for prizes and milestones!

Humanity starts terraforming Mars in the 2400s. Under the auspices of the World Government on Earth, giant corporations launch massive projects to increase ocean coverage, temperature, and oxygen levels until the environment is livable. In Terraforming Mars, you take on the role of one of those corporations and collaborate on the terraforming process. However, you also compete to earn victory points for advancing human infrastructure throughout the solar system and other admirable actions.

You purchase unique project cards to hold in your hand as a player, out of a total of more than two hundred. The cards can boost your production of various resources and provide you with instant bonuses. A lot of cards have conditions as well, and they can be played once the ocean coverage, temperature, or oxygen levels rise sufficiently. There is a balance between purchasing cards and playing them because the former is expensive. You can always add Standard Projects to your deck of cards. Your Terraform Rating determines both your basic score and your basic income. However, your production increases your income, and you can earn vice presidents from a variety of other sources.

Your player board is where you monitor your output and resources. Plants, Steel, Titanium, MegaCredits, Energy, and Heat are the six resource types used in the game. You compete for the top locations on the game board for your city, ocean, and greenery tiles. Additionally, you compete for various milestones and awards worth a lot of vice presidents. A generation is the name given to each round, which includes the following stages:
