At first glance, IMSCARED looks like a charming, albeit dark, throwback to the 90s. Its low-po atmosphere and chunky pixel art give it a deceptive simplicity. You start out in a locked room with a simple instruction: “I need a heart to open it.”
However, once you find that heart, the game reveals its true nature. The main antagonist, Whiteface, is more than just a monster chasing you down the corridors. He’s a digital entity that claims to “infect” your computer. The game crashes, throws fake Blue Screens of Death (BSOD), and forces you to look out of the game window to progress.
